Efficacy testing of biocidal products

Registration and legal sale of biocidal products on the EU market, involves the need to meet the requirements of Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012 of the European Parliament and Council of 22 May 2012 on the making available on the market and use of biocidal products and to confirm the effectiveness of the product. In order to do so, it is necessary to perform a number of necessary tests to confirm the marketing claims used on the product. In order to demonstrate the biocidal effect of a given product, it is necessary to carry out a biocidal test. At Skin Lab Int. We also perform tests confirming antibacterial/disinfecting activity of a product, as well as tests confirming antifungal activity. All tests are performed according to generally applicable standards, approved and recognised during the registration of products with URPL.

Evaluation of the biocidal efficacy of a formulation for surface disinfection in food areas.

This is a specialised test in which so-called reference strains are used. The test is conducted according to the standard PN-EN 13697:201506E: Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. It is a quantitative method for determining the bactericidal and fungicidal action of chemical disinfectants used in the food sector, in industrial and domestic settings and in public utilities with regard to non-porous surfaces. The standard meets the requirements and test method without mechanical action (phase 2/stage 2).

Evaluation of the biocidal efficacy of a preparation for hygienic hand disinfection by rubbing.

This specialised test is performed on 18-22 probands, in turn the whole methodology is based on the standard PN-EN 1500:2013-07: Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. Hygienic hand disinfection by rubbing – Test method and requirements (phase 2/stage 2). The method is acceptable for biocidal products registered with URPL.

.

Viral efficacy for biocidal products must be confirmed in accordance with European standards: EN 14476:2013, EN 14675:2015 and EN 13610:2005.

Testing for fungicidal properties of a food contact biocidal product

Testing for fungicidal activity of surface disinfection products is carried out according to PN EN 13697:2015 06E: Chemical disinfectants and antiseptics. It is a quantitative method for determining the bactericidal and fungicidal activity of chemical disinfectants used in the food sector, industrial and domestic settings and public utilities on non-porous surfaces. Requirements and test method without mechanical action (phase 2/stage 2). Test duration: approximately 5-7 weeks.

Testing for fungicidal properties of the biocidal product according to EN 13624 (phase 2, step 1) /EN 14562 (phase 2, step 2). Test conducted under dirty conditions (3ml/l sheep erythrocytes + 3g/l bovine albumin).
