Essential oils are defined as the volatile parts of natural products, which can be obtained, for example, by steam distillation of citrus fruits. In their composition, mainly volatile hydrocarbons are identified. Essential oils are obtained from different parts of plants and are mainly used as ingredients of cosmetic products (e.g. perfumes, soaps, detergents). The oils are also used in aromatherapy.
